The Trevor Linden Foundation
The goal of the Trevor Linden Foundation is to encourage young people to discover their strengths and realize their potential.
The Trevor Linden Foundation was established in Vancouver, BC in 1997 to support children and families facing life-threatening illnesses. Since then, charities in BC, Montreal and New York have benefited from the generosity and commitment of Trevor and the many hockey fans, sponsors and businesses who have donated to our programs.
In recent years, the foundation has grown to focus on youth programs in the communities that have supported Trevor throughout his career as a Vancouver Canuck. Like Trevor, the foundation believes in the power of teamwork and we have been very lucky to partner with some great people and organizations.
Typically quiet and low-key, you won't hear Trevor talk much about the many accolades he has received both on and off the ice - but we can do it here.
Trevor Linden demonstrated ultimate leadership skills on the ice in his 20-year NHL career. His talent, character and commitment to community have made him an admired figure in British Columbia — recognized by the NHL who awarded him both the King Clancy Memorial Trophy (1997) and the NHL Foundation Player Award (2008). Both awards recognize NHL players for leadership and significant contributions within their communities, and it is these qualities that sum up Trevor's career best. In addition to the recognition from the NHL, Trevor has been awarded the City of Vancouver Merit Award (2013), Order of British Columbia (2003) and the Order of Canada (2010) - the country’s highest civilian honour that recognizes a lifetime of distinguished service in or to a particular community, group or field of activity. (NOTE: we like to think of it as a 'half-lifetime' of achievement as we know there are many years of achieving still to come.)
